Susan Ritchie is a coach and author who has a great tale to tell about courage, confidence and following a dream.
In 2002, Susan sold up and moved from the UK to Borneo with her young son. She knew no one yet managed to turn this into a great adventure. Now back in the UK, Susan uses her experiences to coach and trains others to overcome their own self doubt and fears so that they can become happier, more confident and successful.
She writes all about her experiences in her book: [amazon_link id=”B00FT65Y7Y” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Strategies for being brilliant: 21 ways to be happy, confident and successful. [/amazon_link]
A few weeks ago Susan and I spoke via Skype and had a good chat about confidence, why so many people struggle with it and what we can do to improve it.

Over To You
What have you found useful when it comes to confidence building?
Gotta keep moving. No matter what. The thing is you could out-talk yourself from making changes, or you could get out of your head and listen to what others are doing. There’s always someone out there taking greater risks than you…and me!
I find that success begets success.
Experiments make me confident. Often I choose the pain of staying the same over the pain of change. When I dare to take one small doable action in the direction of full self-expression, I ALWAYS prove to myself that the pain of change is better than the pain of staying the same. And that confidence then gains momentum.
I love this interview! My husband wants to move to Colorado but I am terrified! We know nobody there and have no family there… But sometimes you got to take a leap of faith.
I couldn’t agree with Meli’s comment more. Self-talk is my worst enemy.
Thank you for the great interview. What a brave woman. It’s our self-talk that gets us into a lot of trouble.
I get confidence when i know something inside and out.. i sometimes over confident.
I love Susan’s story of adventure. A lot of people wouldn’t take the leap and move to a new place without knowing anyone. She took a risk and it paid off.
Very good info here. I probably have too much confidence. Can I tell you that…I really like “quotes Jo likes”. Enjoyed your page very much.
I love this…this is one thing I’m always working on.
Confidence is key to success….It’s taken me a long time to learn this.
Great interview. It’s so interesting how we tend to hold ourselves back and not realize our full potential because we lack confidence.
Knowledge gives me confidence
