for the days when you feel like giving up

Sometimes we all feel like giving up. Building a business isn’t easy (despite what the gurus and people selling courses will tell you). Building a coaching or healing business is even harder. We aren’t selling widgets. We aren’t selling easy answers to simple problems. We are selling transformation, elevation and self-actualization. And in many ways, we’re also selling US. Ourselves. Our experience, skills, values and personality.

That’s vulnerable and scary. It DEMANDS that we do our own growth work and deal with our own ‘stuff’. It presses into our fears, highlights our insecurities and gives us a really intense growth opportunity. (You know, as in ‘another f*cking growth opportunity’!)

And the ride is intense. Anyone who tries to convince you it’s all unicorns and rainbows on the beach with your laptop is talking some serious BS.

Here’s a truth that few people share:

There are days when everyone feels like giving up.

My peers and colleagues have a running joke that we’re lucky we take turns to have the urge to give up – because if it coincided with us all feeling that way at once we’d be in serious trouble.

Our work is not for the faint-hearted.

But it’s too important to give up on.

So here’s what I need you to know – especially on the days when you feel like giving up:

I see you

Your work in this world is powerful.

You help people to expand their possibilities, act from a place of groundedness, heal deep wounds, and transcend circumstances.

You get to witness people rising.

You facilitate deep and lasting change.

You have the power to change communities and conversations. Shift culture and point out new and better ways of living together as humans.

It’s heady, powerful stuff.

I see you

I see the work that you do and the intention that’s behind it.
I see the love that you pour into that work.  I see you toiling, perfecting, figuring out and creating.
I see your heart – even with the doubts and the little voice that tells you you’re not ready, not there yet, not as good as, have nothing new to say etc. etc.

I see you and I want to remind you that:

Here we do hard things. And here we do transformative things.

If you’re not ‘there’ yet, don’t worry. You can work it out.
If you don’t have all the answers, don’t worry. You don’t need to know it all.
If you don’t feel as qualified, shiny, smiley, happy as the multitudes you see online, don’t worry – your uniqueness is your ticket to success, just as you are.
If you don’t know where to start or what to focus on, don’t worry, there’s a map you can follow.
If you don’t know if you can do this all alone, don’t worry, you don’t have to.

Your intention, your heart, and being on your way are the things that matter. You know it isn’t easy. You know it takes work. You’re prepared to do it.

When you feel like giving up remember that.

I see you and I love you for it.
